• Welcome to PinneyRanch.com, we are a family owned and operated cattle ranch located 22 miles south of Wood Lake, Nebraska. Ron and Jean Pinney started the operation over fifty years ago with a herd of angus cows. In the early 1970's they began to artificially inseminate their herd to produce club calves. Through the next 15 years feeder calves were shown by their children Jim and Ronna in 4-H and FFA shows and then sold to customers in thirty states.

After attending Kansas State University studying meat science, Jim married his wife Lisa, a graduate of Washburn University and moved back to the ranch in the late 80's. Ronna attended the University of Nebraska with a teaching degree, got married and lives in Brandon, South Dakota. With Ron and Jean's help, Jim and Lisa started their own herd in the late 80's. Most of this herd came from replacements in Ron's herd to keep the gene pool the same. Jim added an embryo transplant program in the mid 90's, along with the AI program. The ranch was converted from a traditional range system into a high density rotational grazing system. Shelter belts were planted and new solar and wind powered water systems were installed.

Jim and Lisa have a son, Pryce and a daughter, Jimi Lee. They have both been active in showing horses and cattle, as well as helping on the ranch. High school rodeo is one of the things they enjoy. Pryce competes in the cutting and calf roping and Jimi was the Nebraska High School Rodeo queen. We also raise Bert Foundation Quarter Horses on our ranch. They are used to compete on and are also for sale. The future will find us still striving to innovate our operation to maintain quality and predictability of our herd.

We appreciate your time and interest and hope that you enjoy looking at our website. Please contact us with any questions. Emails are great, but a phone call is better.
